Drive The Image Photography is a Colorado-based photographer, born and raised, for over forty years. There are so many unique places in Colorado, especially to get married in. Colorado is known as a wedding destination state, and it’s obvious why. Whenever I capture a wedding in our beautiful state, it is always a dream come true. It all depends on if you want Garden of the Gods as your background, the high plains, in the Black Hills forest, or an event center. The altitude can go from 6,035 ft in Manitou Springs to 9,500 ft in Cripple Creek to 14,115 ft at the top of Pikes Peak. It’s a lot different from 5280 for Denver.
The busiest time to get married in Colorado is from March to November. However, winter and spring weddings can be more affordable and just as gorgeous. It all depends on what matches the theme of your wedding, including your colors. Do you want yellowish/orange ever-changing aspens (mid-September to the first week in October), or flowering trees/bushes, including our state flower; The Columbine )April-July? Also, what is your favorite Colorado season? Regardless, you will most likely see wildlife from deer, moose, elk, owls, foxes, etc. You will see more elk in the fall due to cooler weather and when herds like to migrate to lower elevations to mate. Deer are more likely to be around in mid-November. (Remember to not feed the wildlife)
I grew up going to the Garden of the Gods as a young child, and the red rocks always felt like heaven to me. As I got older and was able to capture people posed in the rocks, it felt like a dream come true. Seeing that people got married at the Air Force Academy and even the Broadmoor since I had tea with my grandma there as a teenager.

Palmer Park
Palmer Park is a regional park in Colorado Springs and is several miles northeast of the downtown area. There are many places to elope, and have family gatherings or reunions since they have pavilions that seat 30 to 200 people. There are quite a few hiking trails and welcome all skill levels. A panoramic view of the Front Range is a huge reason people choose to elope here.
Garden of the Gods Resort
The Garden of the Gods Resort and Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado is one of the prettiest places in Colorado to get married since 1951 It’s one mile from the Garden of the Gods’ natural landmark and the park itself. Also, it overlooks Pikes Peak. It’s perfect for an intimate wedding, especially on the south lawn. There is always a herd of deer running about, and they have a reflective pool just for them to drink out of. All your guests get those amazing views as well. The below wedding took place in the Hill Terrace room, which has breathtaking views of the Garden of the Gods and especially the “Kissing Camels.” It’s perfect for their size of wedding. Sunset images are always a must-do at this venue. Your guests can play tennis, swim in the pool, and enjoy their restaurant and spa.
The Broadmoor
This is an elegant resort is the shores of the man-made Cheyenne Lake. It’s been open for 98 years and has the most incredible view of Cheyenne mountain. They have seven different places you can say “I Do,” and seven different reception locations. Below shows the lakeside terrace view. It’s a perfect destination place to have a wedding at. They accommodate your family and friends and are centrally located in Colorado Springs. It’s 11 miles from the Colorado Springs airport and 2 miles from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. There are a ton of things for your guest to do the days before the wedding or after such as an 18-hole golf course, spa and tennis courts, and 8 restaurants, as well as rock climbing and fly-fishing.
Spruce Mountain Ranch
This indoor/outdoor premier mountain wedding event venue in Larkspur is on 450 acres of land. Its breathtaking backdrop has been family-owned since 1999. They have a groom’s lounge as well as a bridal cottage for both wedding parties to get ready at. For the reception at Albert’s lodge with a burning fireplace, floor-to-ceiling wood, and a porch you can open up for a cocktail hour and or dancing during those warm summer nights. Dancing under the stars brings every wedding to an end with a smile.
The Pinery at the Hill
This is an all-inclusive wedding venue nestled on a hill with amazing views of Pikes Peak and the Colorado Springs skyline. It’s within minutes of Garden of the Gods park, which is perfect for first looks and wedding party pictures. Without your guests seeing the Bride They provide everything from floral, cake, linens/table settings, bar, DJ with light/sound, and plenty of parking. They have a Copper, Bronze, and Silver package to meet the needs of all couples.
The Club at Flying Horse
This country club is a dream place to get married at, and many come from other states to do so. It overlooks the Rocky Mountains and Pikes Peak, and the Black Forest regional park is nearby. It accommodates your family and friends and there are a lot of things to do such as; 18 hole golf course, steakhouse dining, athletic club, and spa. No matter where you go to take pictures of your couple, you won’t run out of ideas. Between the terraces, open fireplace, an inside stone wine tower, and the different views of the golf course and mountains. Leo and Madeline got married during covid times and did a “first touch,” before their ceremony. Then they got married outside in the courtyard on Oct 17th and with all the changing trees/bushes it was so romantic. Their reception was in the Thomas Blake Ballroom and was perfect for all their toasts and dancing.
Creekside Event Center
The Edgewood Inn
This bed and breakfast lodge is an elegant place for a wedding. It’s minutes from Colorado Springs and 4.6 miles from downtown Woodland Park, which has 5 rooms, while the honeymoon suite has a private balcony with mountain/forest views of Pikes Peak. Dakota and Danni got married in January 2020, and they were able to do so outside on the deck while their guest was inside in the warm. As the guests are at the cocktail hour, us photographers have free rain of the endless options for pictures. (the upstairs deck, the spiral staircase, and the outside grounds with the mountains as the backdrop. This is anyone’s fairy tale come true, especially with everything you need on-site. All special moments and memories will be made for the weekend with your family and friends.
The Margarita at Pine Creek
This is a fine dining restaurant established in 1974 in Woodman Valley. Brandon and Angela had their first date there, so they got married on the veranda, nestled between the trees and the wildlife. All the pictures were done just outside between the pine trees with the mountains as their backdrop.
